October 9:
The Suburban Chicago CourierNews reports that Dan McGehee raced through 100 miles of the Fox Valley countryside in a record-setting 3:56:03. The 18.4-mile course meandered through the rural roads of Kaneville west of Aurora, where two UMCA officials were on hand to verify the distance and time. McGehee averaged 25.2 mph.
The UMCA records web page does not yet list the record, but presumably they are still verifying the details.
Oh, and to put things in perspective, McGehee is 45.
