CycleU West Seattle Grand Opening Saturday November 7th

November 3, 2009 by David Longdon Leave a Comment

Official press release:

Cycle University has opened its new 10,000 square foot location in West Seattle, in the former Huling Brother’s Jeep show room.

Craig Undem, owner of Cycle University, couldn’t be happier with the new location and is grateful for the lease from the Huling Brothers family. “We wanted to expand in West Seattle, where Cycle U started. With the new location we are now able to satisfy the huge demand for our coaching services and indoor cycling classes in West Seattle and surrounding communities. CycleU has teamed up with Specialized Bicycles to create a bike showroom, retail space, and a full service bike repair shop. The new location is better than I could have imagined due to the generous support of Specialized Bicycles.”

The Open House is Saturday November 7, 12:00-5:00pm, with a Grand Opening Party to follow at 6-9pm The new facility features Specialized Bicycles and the InCycleTM indoor training center. There will be food, drinks, test rides, and giveaways! Enter your name and have the chance to win a free Pro Bike Fitting Session, a Cycling Fitness Test, and the Grand Prize, a 5 Week InCycle Training program!

The West Seattle location is unique in that both the indoor cycling classes and bike showroom share the same physical space. Cycle University services include:

– Professional bike fitting
– Demo bikes from Specialized Bicycles
– Multiple Indoor Cycling classes
– Outdoor Cycling and Multisport conditioning and skills clinics
– Cycling and Multisport Coaching

Cycle University offers both cyclists and multisport athletes a full-service training center that covers every aspect of improving athletic performance. Craig Undem is a former coach under Chris Carmichael, who trains Lance Armstrong. Craig is a former professional road, mountain bike, and cyclocross racer. Cycle University’s coaches are top-level national and local racers. Adrian Hegyvary, Cycle U’s first employee just signed a pro cycling contract with team OUCH!.

Coaches at Cycle University develop personalized training plans which improve each clients cycling and multisport performance. Coaches provide on going and event specific fitness consultation.

InCycle TM, an indoor cycling class, is a more effective way to train than a traditional spin class. During an InCycle TM class, each rider’s personal bike is connected to a stationary trainer and wattage meter. The trainers are calibrated to each rider’s level of fitness. Cycle U coaches build a rider’s fitness with unique, cycling specific workouts, that change seasonally, weekly, and daily. During each workout, a big screen shows the days required training zones, workout plan, and cycling videos. Music is provided to keep motivation high.

“InCycle TM is an excellent and efficient training program. New and experienced athletes thrive because each individual trains at his or her personal fitness level.” Says Ed Ewing, Director of the InCycleTM program.

Cycle University is growing rapidly and continues to expand new offerings to their clients. In September Cycle U released our first how-to DVD “Cyclocross Bootcamp”. Customers are already requesting more DVD’s that feature core-strength training and indoor cycling workouts.

The new West Seattle Cycle University facility is located at 4550 Fauntleroy Way.

Cycle University was established in 2003. The president and founder, Craig Undem, was a professional road, mountain and cyclocross racer for twelve years. Cycle U has a staff of 12 USAC certified coaches and trainers. Their mission is to significantly help people be healthier, stronger, safer and faster. To use science and their experience to create practical training plans and concepts to increase health and performance. To make their community a healthier and better place through endurance sport.
