Sunshiney Seward Scenes

May 20, 2011 by David Longdon Leave a Comment

To say that we have all been desperate for a break from precipitation is an understatement. The weather this week has been simply spectacular, and it was “race on” this Thursday evening for the 2011 JL Velo Cycling Series at Seward Park. Races are held every Thursday evening starting at 5:00, and the series runs from April to the first week of September. Even if you don’t race, it’s a great venue to watch some of Seattle’s fastest cyclists in action.

Here are some scenes from this week’s edition:

Scott Musgrove (soon to be former) points leader of the 6PM series suffered injuries during a training ride last weekend and will be out of the action and recovering for the next 6 weeks.
Speeding down the backstretch at about 40 mph, Erik Olson (Cucina Fresca) demonstrates a zen-like state of tranquility during the 6PM race.

Event originator and organizer David Douglas gives instructions to racers lined up for the 7PM race.
Racing bikes is very serious business.
David *Flash* Fleischhauer (Herriott Sports Performance) applies just a bit of pressure during the 7PM race.
