Seattle has long been an epicenter of trail running activity. That culture means we have a busy trail running calendar. It’s possible to do 2-4 trail races per week.

Last Saturday, under perfect northwest conditions–rain and cold–Northwest Trail Runs hosted the Rattlesnake Ridge Half Marathon and 5-Miler. The start was at Rattlesnake Lake, a few miles south of North Bend.

The vibe at the Northwest Trail Runs’ events is welcoming and inclusive. Prior to the start of each race, event organizer Eric Bone gives a pre-race briefing to alert runners to any route-finding issues, or in the case of this course, snow at the top of the ridge.

The half marathon course involved a short ~2.4 mile out-and-back down the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, followed by a climb up and over Rattlesnake Ridge.

The 5-Miler was a straightforward out and back down the Snoqualmie Valley Trail.

5-mile and half marathon results.
