On June 9th Mick Walsh and George Thomas rolled out of Oceanside, CA towards Durango, CO as a 2-man team in the 2010 Race Across the West. They had a tortuous ride, with George spending time in an emergency room for heart palpitations and Mick spending time passed out on the side of the road with intestinal issues. Despite the difficulties, they rallied and finished second.
This week’s Masters event at the Pacific Raceways Road Race Series included Sean “Champ” Phillips who won the Masters State Championship Road Race last week, and Mick Walsh who is just back from a “little” adventure in the Race Across the West (as part of the 2-man Team Velowear/RAO), and at the Elkhorn Classic Stage Race where his team (Echelon Gran Fondo/ZteaM) won the Masters category.

George was on a 2-man team with Seattle local Mick Walsh in the Race Across the West from Oceanside to Durango: Interesting what he says about his recent experiences with heart palpitations–I get the same thing when I train hard. Definitely don’t want to say it has anything to do with aging!
