Badger Mountain Challenge 15k | 50k | 50 mi | 100 mi
March 28, 2025 - March 29, 2025
An event every year that begins at 12:00 am on day last of March, repeating until March 29, 2025
Welcome to the Badger Mountain Challenge, one of Southeastern Washington’s only ultramarathons!
Located in Richland, Washington, Badger Mountain is our favorite local mountain and it offers expansive views of the beautiful Columbia Basin.
Property development continues to reduce our natural spaces close to town, so the Badger Mountain Preserve was established in 2005 to ensure that this community has open spaces and magnificent views for outdoor recreation. The BMC focuses on these few remaining open spaces that are close to our urban centers while we still have access to them.
The BMC is once again hosted by the Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington.
The BMC 50k, the 50, and 100 mile races will once again be UTMB qualifiers. They will be worth 2, 3 and 5 points respectively. The ITRA (the agency that determines the point value for every UTMB qualifying race) has reevaluated the system that it uses to apply UTMB points, and the Badger races have been changed from 3 (for the 50K), 4 (50 mile) and 6 points (100 mile) to 2, 3 and 5.
The Badger Mountain Challenge is a great opportunity to be involved in a race that has a small-town feel but with all the support of a big race. Even if you’re not competitive you can hike the course while enjoying the people, local ridges and open spaces. All entrants can enjoy some free post race food and our vendor expo after the race.
We need lots of volunteers to make this race a success, so please visit the volunteer tab or click on the volunteer link on Ultrasignup to fill out a form if you are interested in helping. All volunteers will receive a volunteer shirt and a free entrance to a BMC 15km race in the future (or a reduced entry fee into one of the ultra-distance events). There will be an all-volunteer meeting at 6:30 PM on Thursday night. We will be handing out supplies and maps to the aid station captains at this meeting. Please come to this meeting!
