Bone Crusher XCO
April 17 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm PDT
An event every year that begins at 9:00 am on day third of April, repeating until April 19, 2025
The Bone Crusher XCO offers a race environment friendly to all riders with a 4 mile lap course ranging from 2-4 laps. Our event uses the Madras East hills trails system just to the East of the Town of Madras in Central Oregon.
These trails are situated in the rolling hills of the high desert and have a compact yet highly drainable soil for fast spring riding.
The open trails flow through an open sage and wind into a juniper cropping with a fast and engaging descent with different line options. Maintain this speed as you pace back to start your next lap.
With open sight and wide trails, passing will be viable throughout. Climbing isn’t steep but the switchbacks require power and skill. Descending favors those who can rail turns and hold speed throughout.
Come check it out for yourself!
The Madras East Hill Trails offer a perfect XCO race format with open spaced, flowy, and short lap formats for all ages and abilities. This event, unique to Oregon, is aiming to engage mountain bike racers in fast action packed racing that provides spectators the opportunity to see racers zoom by from the pit zone and be within a few minute walk of anywhere on the course.
4 mi lap race format.
Parking located at Juniper Hills Park, less than half a mile up the road from the East Hills Trails staging area.
Open course from finish to 10 minutes prior to scheduled start time.
Spectators discouraged from start/finish area. May disperse themselves on course.
Arrive 5 minutes prior to staged start time. Riders not in will not be allowed.
Only 50 people per staged event per COVID-19 restrictions. (including race staff)
Wear a mask at staging area, can be pulled once on course.
Racers may be pulled from course if exceedingly delaying scheduled events.
Fast and flowy, opening up on a dirt road with a incline (5%) for the start lap. Singletrack is non technical, but requires skill to maintain speed. An expert line with mandetory drops will save riders 10 seconds per lap. Holding speed and momentum will be an advantage in the flowy trails with some twists and turns.
