The New Balance / Super Jock ‘n Jill Winter Grand Prix Two-Mile Series was founded in 1996 to help motivate high school kids during the dreary winter months. It hasn’t exactly turned out that way – open and masters competition is just as strong! The five stooges who started the series — Tom Anderson, Alan Bonney, Kenny Emerick, Brian Oster, and Bill Roe — have been fixtures over the years.

There are usually six races each season – two road races, two cross country races, a track race, and a finale where runners with at least three times in the first five races are given a “handicap” start time. As a result of Covid-19, our series will look a little different this year. We will be running at least some of the races virtually. We will be following health recommendations and guidelines in determining when we are able to safely put on the events in-person.

New Balance and Super Jock ‘n Jill provide prizes at the end of the series.

2020-2021 DATES

–JANUARY 9 (VIRTUAL)
–JANUARY 23 (VIRTUAL)
–FEBRUARY 6 (TBA: IN-PERSON Road Race or VIRTUAL depending on current Covid-19 recommendations)
–FEBRUARY 13 (TBA: IN-PERSON Cross-Country Race or VIRTUAL depending on current Covid-19 recommendations)
–FEBRUARY 27 FINALE (TBA: IN-PERSON or VIRTUAL depending on current Covid-19 recommendations)

IN-PERSON RACE LOCATION

All in-person races are at Magnuson Park. The Magnuson Park races all begin near the beach comfort station and bathroom building on the Waterfront Promenade. Enter the park on NE 65th Street and turn onto Lakeshore Drive at the stop sign. Follow Lakeshore Drive to the beach area. Remember that — on road race days — the angle parking along Lakeshore Drive is blocked for the route, so parking really close to the start fills up fast!
