Deschutes Downriver SUP: Double Trouble and Rapid Rush

An event every year that begins at 9:00 am on day second of September, repeating until September 9, 2023
THE DESCHUTES DOWNRIVER SUP RACES
THE DOUBLE TROUBLE & THE RAPID RUSH
The DOUBLE TROUBLE:
Participants will have 2.5 hours to make runs from the Imperial River Co. to Blue Hole. Biggest rapids on course = Class 2. Most of the route is ripples to calm with current. The route is just over three miles. Each person’s fastest TWO runs will be added to create their overall score. Participants may choose to run the stretch more than twice. Participants will be started time trial style with minimum of :15 in between starts. Helmets and Class 3/5 PFD’s REQUIRED (we can supply). ONLY QUICK RELEASE leashes allowed. Racers will be chip timed. Shuttles will be available.
The RAPID RUSH:
The RUSH is a 8-mile downriver SUP race with RAPIDS that are Class 3 and below. The race will begin at Harpham Flats and finish at Blue Hole. Participants will start in intervals of approximately :15. Shuttles will be available to the start and from the finish. The race will be chip timed for accuracy. Helmets and Class 3/5 PFD’s REQUIRED (we can supply). ONLY QUICK RELEASE leashes allowed.
** ADDED to the Rapid Rush, a TEAM COMPETITION. Minimum 4-people per board, same course as Rush! Monster Trophy to winning team.
:: SATURDAY SCHEDULE:
8:00 AM – Check-in and late registration.
8:15 AM – FIRST SUPS into the river for DOUBLE TROUBLE.
10:45 AM – LAST SUP must have finished DOUBLE TROUBLE.
11:45 PM – SHUTTLE TO START OF SUP RUSH
12:30 PM – Start of the SUP RUSH
** 12:35 Start OF SUP MONSTER RUSH. 4-people or more per board.
IN TOWN ACTIVITIES FOR SATURDAY:
+ Late registration and packet pick-up for R3. (2:00-6:00)
+ Trike Races (6:30ish)
+ BBQ to support Maupin School Athletics (4-6:00)
+ SUP AWARDS: 4:00 PM
+ Pinata for the kids! 5:30
+ Widmer Beer Tasting at Maupin Market (4-6:00)
+ Rafting ALL DAY
+ Jager Bumz at Imperial (8:00ish)
:: AFTER DOWNTOWN FUN : Live entertainment at the Imperial
:: FREE camping with us at the Maupin City Park (right next to the start/finish) – in the X-DOG Group Campsite!
:: Print a flier! Share with friends, put on business windows, and go like guerrilla marketing HERE
RULES RESTRICTIONS:
There will be no board restrictions. If registration warrants we will break the event into classifications. We will update board classifications as we get closer to the event. The river warrants, and the course is designed with inflatable SUP’s in mind.
Both Races:
Helmets and Class 3/5 PFD’s REQUIRED (we can supply). ONLY QUICK RELEASE leashes allowed. There will be NO exceptions.
PERKS:
** Food and Drink: There will be snacks and drinks including Widmer beer after the events. All participants will also get a coupon for a burger in town at the festivities Saturday night.
** Fun outside with the folk of Maupin and an award ceremony Saturday evening.
** Shuttle services provided.
** Awards in age group and overall categories for both events.
** Random prizes.
