East Side or Die Trail Half Marathon
July 10 @ 4:00 pm - July 11 @ 12:00 am PDT
An event every year that begins at 4:00 pm on day second of July, repeating until July 13, 2025
EAST SIDE OR DIE TRAIL HALF:
Start time: SATURDAY 6:00 pm
Distance: 13.1 miles
Elevation gain: 2,500’
Course: A 13.1-mile loop. Mostly single track, some of it technical, much of it in the dark.
Cutoff: 6 hours (12:00 am)
Swag/Awards: Everyone will get a medal, a shirt, plus free food and beverage at the finish line. Top 3 women and men will receive prizes.
Yeah, we know. Those 120 miler and 50 miler runners have a screw loose. But not you. You are a bright, reasonable person, who just wants to enjoy running, not suffer through it. Which is exactly why we want you out on the course late at night with the poor saps who made the poor life decision to run the 120, sprucing up the place a bit, making it a bit less depressing out there.
Join us in the afternoon to hang out and cheer a bit, then get ready for your race start at 6 pm at the Mission Ridge Ski Resort. Your loop will take you through some technical, fun single track, the same loop that the 120ers and 50ers will be ending on. If you come across one of these trudging zombies on a death march, please inject them with as much energy as you possibly can.
Typical weather: The daytime temperatures in this area can get very hot, and parts of the course are fairly exposed. Evenings can get cool.
Required gear: In July, this area is prone to being hot and dry. The aid stations are far enough apart that runners are required to carry at least two water bottles or a hydration pack. Nights can be very cool, so bring layers if you are running at night.
This event is CUPLESS – please bring your own containers for fluids during the race (bottles, soft flasks, and collapsible cups) as well as after the race (for your beer!).
The race start/finish is approximately a 3-hour drive from downtown Seattle.
Dog policy: Sorry – gotta leave the doggo at home for this one! 🙁
From the resort, runners will run in a clockwise direction, taking the Squilchuck trail to Forest Road 9712, then cutting across on Mission Ridge Trail 1201. You’ll turn right on Devil’s Gulch trail, following it to Pipeline Trail and back to the resort on Squilchuck trail.
4:00 – 5:30 pm: Half Marathon check-in
6:00 pm: Half Marathon start
12:00 am: course cutoff for Half Marathon runners
