Fowl Fun Run 5k | 10k
November 10, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm PST
An event every year that begins at 8:00 am on day second of November, repeating until November 11, 2023
We offer two distances: 5K and 10K. Both courses are USATF certified and are run on flat, low-traffic farm roads in the Skagit Valley. We will be using the IPICO chip timing system to time both races. Food, refreshments, awards and lots of random prizes will be available after the race in a warm gymnasium.
“Course is flat. It’d be great to run fast, if you can. Lots of giveaways afterwards–turkeys, pumpkin pies, and other miscellaneous stuff.”
Race day schedule
8 am – 8:25 am: Volunteers set up gym, finish line and course
8:25 am – 9:30 am: Day of race registration
8:25 am – 9:50 am: Bib number/chip pick up for pre-registered participants
10 am: Both races start
10:05 am: Turkey begins the 10K
11:05 am: Awards in the gym (5K awards will be first)
Noon: Both courses close; volunteers begin clean up of gym, finish line and course
Early registration is available online until Friday, November 10 at noon and at Skagit Running Company until 1 pm on Friday, November 10, so please pre-register. It not only helps us out with data entry, you will save money over day of race registration. In addition, it will ensure that you are eligible for age group awards on race day. If you must register the morning of the race, please arrive early. Any entries received after 9:30 am on the morning of the race may not be entered into the computer in time for results (and we cannot do any data entry once the computer is attached to the timing system). We will still enter late DOR registrations on Saturday night for the official results posted on the website, but late DOR entries will not be eligible for awards.
We will be using the IPICO chip timing system which requires the timing chip to be attached to your shoe with the supplied tie wraps. Please read the chip timing document for more information on how to attach your chip. At the finish line, volunteers will cut the tie wraps and remove the timing ship. Make sure that the timing chip is returned after the race as there is a $30 fee for any tags that are not returned. If you forget to return the chip at the finish, please mail it as soon as possible to Skagit Runners, P.O. Box 120, Burlington, WA 98233 to avoid the charge. Also note that all entrants need to be entered in the computer before the race begins to be included in the age division awards. If you arrive late (after 9:30 am) and register on the morning of the race, there may not be time to enter your information so you will not be eligible for age division awards. For late arrivals, we will still enter your information before publishing official results on the website, but this will be after all of the age group awards have been given out to pre-registered and early DOR registrants. Remember, for both races, NO CHIP, NO TIME!
Food and Refreshments
Pumpkin pie, brownies and refreshments will be available after the race for race participants.
For awards purposes, the age divisions are 6 and under, 7-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over. The age divisions will be the same for both the 10K and the 5K.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners in both races. The top 3 finishers in each age division will receive ribbons. Finishing position for awards is determined by gun time, not chip time.
The oldest and youngest finisher in the 10K will each receive a “Spring Chicken” award. The family with the most finishers in either race will receive the “Fat Turkey” prize.
