Mud & Chocolate Spring Weekend | 4.5Mi

April 27, 2024 @ 8:15 am - 11:00 am PDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 8:15 am on day last of April, repeating until April 26, 2025

  • « Cinco de Mayo Half Marathon | 10k | 5k
  • Bone Crusher XCO »

If you love running and you love chocolate, this race is for you! Our fun chocolate trail race takes you along wide dirt trails amid Hemlocks and Douglas Firs at the Redmond Watershed, a fantastic place to run through a little mud. And as if nature weren’t sweet enough, were throwing chocolate into the mix.

All finishers will receive a chocolate medal and have fun refueling at our super chocolatey finish area, Chocomania.

**Half marathoners will also receive a gorgeous, sparkly keepsake medal!!**

COURSE
The Redmond Watershed is a beautiful park rich with old growth forests, well-groomed trails and moderately rolling hills. The 4.5 mile and the half marathon events will start at the same time and use the same loop course once inside the park. Half marathoners will make the loop three times, swinging by the aid station twice. This is a trail run so there will not be additional aid on the course. Please plan to carry whatever additional aid you might need. For those of you familiar with “the Watershed,” we’re skipping the biggest hills in the park and have opted for a more moderate course that we think beginners and advanced trail runners will both enjoy.

Mud and Chocolate Trail Run Schedule:
8:15 – Number Pick-Up
8:55 – Pre-Race Announcements
9:00 – Race Start
Chocomania at the finish!

NUMBER PICK-UP
You can pick up your race number at the event, beginning 45min before start time. Our sweet races are limited to a small number of participants, so this is plenty of time.

CHOCOHOLIC OPTION
This one’s for the running rock stars! Sign up as a Chocoholic and run on both days at one of our Mud & Chocolate Weekends (April and November). You’ll run the 4.5 mile on Saturday and then come back Sunday for the Half Marathon. You’ll also get a special chocolate surprise, separate combined race results and two visits to CHOCOMANIA!

AWARDS
All finishers will be presented with a delicious chocolate medal and a full size gourmet Seattle Chocolates bar! Half marathoners will also receive a gorgeous, sparkly commemorative medal!

We also think it’s fun to give something to the first folks that come across the finish line, so the overall male and female winners of the half marathon and 4.5 miler will receive a special chocolate treat supplied by Seattle Chocolates.

REFRESHMENTS
Half marathon runners can fuel up at our chocolate aid station.
All finishers are invited to indulge in CHOCOMANIA at the finish line!

SHIRTS
Our races include well-marked trails, lots of chocolate, friendly people, chocolate medals and paid patronage to our beautiful parks (which keeps the parks alive). If you’d also like a wearable reminder of the fun, you can order an eco-friendly tee or a big, cozy sweatshirt when you register. We use a great designer so our designs are always a big hit.

PARKING
Because parking is limited, we encourage carpooling when possible. You can discuss running and chocolate on the way over and then bring your race stories and full chocolate bellies home together!

Parking within the Redmond Watershed is limited to the paved parking lot (no parking in the gravel lot). If the parking lot is full, runners can park on the road into the park. It may take you some time to walk back to the park (we figure this way you can eat a few extra pieces of chocolate without the guilt), so please arrive early.
