Prepare yourself for a running event like no other. Romance. Kitsch. Sweat. My Better Half Marathon is a celebration of running, romance and rom-coms. There are 4 categories: Bromance (two guy friends), Besties (two girl friends), Lovers (romantically involved) and Lonely Hearts (self-explanatory).

Aid Stations
Aid Stations will be located approximately every 2-3 miles and stocked with water, Clif electrolyte, and Clif gels.

Courses:
All courses run along the beautiful shores of Lake Washington for almost the entirety of their distances.

Half Marathon: The half marathon course is a total of 3 laps. The first lap has a steep but quick hill and is 3.1 miles in length. Laps 2 and 3 are each 5 miles long and are nice and flat!

10K: The 10K course is a total of 2 laps. The first lap has some hills in the beginning and is 3.7 miles long whereas the second lap is nice and flat and is 2.5 miles in length!

5K: The 5k course is the same as the half marathon lap 1 course. A steep but quick hill in the beginning is a great warm-up but once you come back down it’s a breeze!

Half Marathon Relay: The relay course can be completed in any way you prefer, as long as all 3 laps are completed. One person can do lap 1 and 2, and the other person complete lap 3– it’s really up to you. There is a relay bracelet hand off area just before the finish line where you make the exchange from one runner to the other.

Post-Race
We will be featuring positively awesome post-race food! Warm up with an oatmeal bar with a toppings bar, and fruit and pastries. Plus as much candy as you can manage.

Prizes
We will have some fun prizes for our top three overall men and women, plus the top three in each age group. Age groups are in 10 year increments.

Gear Check
We offer free gear check to keep your warm clothes safe and dry. Just bring your own gear check bag and we’ll watch it for you while you run or make out in the woods. We cannot be held responsible for any lost, missing or stolen items, or what happens in the woods.

Parking
Carpooling is highly recommended. There are about 200 parking spots in the Upper Loop of Seward Park, as well as ample parallel parking. You may need to walk a little ways to the start which is located at on the South side of the park so please plan ahead. There is also plenty of on-street parking around Seward Park all within walking distance.

Race Day Schedule
6:30 to 7:45am: Race day packet pickup
7:55am: Get your rear in gear and get ready to run!
8:00am: Half Marathon Start
8:05am: 10k start
8:10am: 5k start
Noon: Best be done running.

Results and Photos
Results will be available after the race. Yup, they’ll be here…after the race. FREE PHOTO DOWNLOADS FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS!
