NW CX Cup Series #5: Fort Nugent CX p/b The Whidbey Island Cycling Club

December 8, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm PST

The Whidbey Island Cycling Club and 53eleven are presenting the championship weekend to wrap up the NW CX CUP and WSBA CX Championships. Saturday’s race is race #5 in the NW CX CUP. The WSBA CX Championships will be contested on Sunday and concluded the NW CX Cup series.

About the NW CX Cup
This year the USA Cycling CX National Championships returning to Washington for the first time in 25 years. The NW CX Cup Series was created by the local CX organizers to provide riders access to USA Cycling events and the Championships.

This year the series features 6 events.

Our Goal
Provide Pacific Northwest cyclocross races the best shot possible to earn USA Cycling ranking points locally.

How do we accomplish this?
We sanctioned all 6 of the NW CX CUP events with USA Cycling because your best 5 races within the last twelve months is averaged to calculate your rider ranking score.

We are scoring each wave as one field and scoring each race by category. There are two reason for this:

One, rider rankings is based on Race Quality and is the first part of the points calculation. It takes “the five best ranked riders from the top 10 finishers, average their rankings and multiply that by 90 percent to create the quality of the race.”

Second, the next part of the calculation has to do with how many finishers there are. In short, age groups or license categories don’t factor in at all. So, we are running each wave together to improve this calculation.

We split the results out by race category and scoring the series based on your category.
