Oktoberfest Trail Runs 10Mi | 5Mi | Kids

October 17, 2020 @ 7:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 7:00 am on day third of October, repeating until October 19, 2024

  • « Portland Marathon by OHSU Expo
  • Mud & Chocolate Fall Weekend | 4.5 Mile Run »

The Oktoberfest Trail Runs are held on Wenatchee National Forest lands near Leavenworth, with the start and finish occurring at the Leavenworth Ski Hill facility, located two miles north of the town of Leavenworth.

This event is held during the third and final weekend of Leavenworth’s famous Oktoberfest celebration. And the trail runs serve as a fundraiser for the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club, which operates the Ski Hill, and its Junior Nordic Team.

Main beneficiary: Leavenworth Winter Sports Club

Description: The 10-mile route will take trail runners from the start at Leavenworth Ski Hill onto the 4 the Boyz Memorial Trail and then the Rosie Boa Trail to the Freund Canyon Trail. Runners will run down Freund Canyon to 4 the Boyz and then back to the Ski Hill. This is a challenging and hilly course, with 1,900 feet of elevation gain.

The 5-mile run will be entirely on the existing ski hill trail system. This course is hilly and challenging, but is perfect for the beginning trail runner.

The kids run will be a 2K route.

Start times: 8:30 a.m. for the 10-Mile, 8:45 a.m. for the 5-Mile, and 9 a.m. for the 2K kids run.

Parking: The Leavenworth Ski Hill has parking. However, as always, we encourage people to car pool or use alternative means of transportation if they can.

Essentials: We will have one aid station on the course that will serve all distances, with the 10 mile group passing it twice. This station will have water, energy drink and gels. Runners are encouraged to bring hydration packs/water bottles and/or energy food to carry on this course.

Trash: Leave no trace. Be kind to our beautiful and amazing Wenatchee National Forest and Leavenworth area and clean up after yourself. Please don’t abandon trash.

Course note: These trails are open to all users during the event, so if a runner encounters a mountain biker or a hiker, please give the other user the right of way.

Runner premiums and other activities: Participants will receive a cool shirt with our signature Oktoberfest Trail Runs logo and entry to a post-race party at the Leavenworth Ski Hill Lodge. At the post-race party, RunWenatchee will provide one complimentary Icicle Brewing Bootjack IPA and Dirty Face Amber to participants 21 years of age and older, and complimentary Bavarian snacks. Join us in the historic lodge after the races to swap stories!

Individual awards: Top three male and female finishers in each event will receive an award. Kids will receive a finisher’s prize.

Main beneficiary: Leavenworth Winter Sports Club
