Run with the Kokanee 10K | 5K

October 12 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm PDT

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every year that begins at 8:30 am on day second of October, repeating until October 14, 2023

Your entry helps support the Kokanee Salmon recovery work of the Bellevue-Issaquah Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The Kokanee are unique to Lake Sammamish and are in danger of becoming extinct. Some of Trout Unlimited’s work includes: protecting the Kokanee’s access to spawning areas, educating fisherman to properly identify Kokanee, educating residents about environmentally-friendly lawn care, and more.

At the beginning of 2016, Bellevue/Issaquah Chapter of Trout Unlimited received a $10,000 People Helping People Award from BECU for all the hard work this organization does!

Join us for a fun run with a cause at Run with the Kokanee!

The course is a 5k loop, starting out on paved park paths (67%) and then finishing on wide, grassy trails (33%). The route is basically flat, with no hills. 5k participants will do this loop once, and 10k participants will do it twice.

Aid Station
There will be one aid station at about 1.7 miles into the loop.

Aid stations offer water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas.

Schedule
8:30am – Check-in and day-of-event registration opens
9:30am – Race Start
10:30am – Raffle and awards
12:00pm – Course closes

Directions & Parking
Note that parking at this park requires a Discover Pass. If you purchase a Discover Pass online, you can print out a temporary pass before your pass arrives in the mail. There are also many vendors that sell passes in-person.

Safety, Etiquette, & Dogs

SAFETY
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including pedestrians with pets, and cyclists. Participants are responsible for their own safety while participating, and the organizers are neither qualified nor equipped to render medical care in the event of a serious injury. In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. You are encouraged to bring a cell phone with you as a safety precaution, if you wish.

PASSING ETIQUETTE
Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.

HEADPHONES
If you’d like to listen to music while you’re on the course, please use headphones or earbuds, so that runners around you can’t hear it. Others may prefer a quieter event experience or may have different musical tastes. Runners playing music in the open air may be asked to leave the event.

Also, keep the volume low enough that you can hear someone talking to you in a normal voice, for example, another runner saying they would like to pass on your left.

DOGS
Our events are USATF certificated, and under the USATF policies, dogs are not allowed on the course.
