Salt Lake City Marathon: Where Beauty Meets Determination

You need to see Salt Lake City to believe it. Run through the city’s iconic landmarks while surrounded by the towering Wasatch Mountains. Finish victoriously and celebrate with friends and family at the historic city hall building. It’s challenging, yet beautiful. We’re showing you the view. Now show us your determination!

Half Marathon

The University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Half Marathon takes runners through a setting filled with snow-capped peaks and contrasting spring blossoms on a scenic and slightly downhill 13.1 mile course. The course is certified by USA Track & Field (USATF) and sanctioned through the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Divisions include open, masters and 18 age groups.

10K

The answer to “What if the 5K is not enough but the Half Marathon is too much?” is the newest addition to our event family, the Salt Lake City Marathon 10k Run.

Participants will utilize a portion of the half marathon course, starting near 500 S and 900 E, and will run through the Sugar House neighborhood and downtown areas. Our fastest course – the route is relatively flat and smooth with slight grade variation.

5K

The 5K takes place in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The course winds past historic sites and city shops while offering views of snow-capped mountains in the near distance. Sharing the same finish line as the full and half marathoners, you’ll be able to join in on all the excitement of the Salt Lake City Marathon weekend!

Bike Tour

The University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon Bike Tour was the first of its kind in Utah! The course, which is the same as the Salt Lake City Marathon course, offers riding fans the opportunity for a non-stop, family-friendly ride through some of the most scenic and spectacular parts of the Salt Lake Valley. You don’t have to be a pro; all you need is a bike and the ability to maintain an average speed of 15 mph and complete the course in 1 Hour and 45 Minutes.

As an official event of the University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon weekend, our goal is to make the Salt Lake City Marathon Bike Tour a thrilling experience for all participants. We encourage EVERYONE to review the rider rules below. Because our goal is to provide our participants with a quality experience, we want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy the event safely.

10K Skate

Participants will utilize a portion of the half marathon course, starting near 500 S and 900 E, and will skate through the downtown and Sugarhouse areas. The skate event is open to inline and quad skaters of recreational, fitness, advanced and pro race levels. The course is relatively flat and smooth with slight grade variation.

As an official event of the University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon weekend, our goal is to make the Salt Lake City Marathon 10K Skate an exciting experience for all participants.

Kids K

The University of Utah Health Salt Lake City Marathon has created a unique program for children ages 1-10 to get involved in the race-day action. Kids get to cross a safe, sectioned-off area of the same finish line as adult marathoners amidst a cheering crowd of spectators!

By allowing kids to participate in this exciting 1K run/walk alongside elite marathoners, our goal is to provide a springboard for a lifetime of healthy habits for children — not just a one-time activity. All participants receive goody bags with educational tools to learn about healthy nutrition, freebies from our sponsors, and discounts for parents to explore fitness options with their children year-round.
