Stub Stewart Trail Challenge is the third event in our Oregon State Parks Trail Series, and we think it’s a nice addition.

Though muddy this time of year, the course trails are fast, runable and diverse – moving from the pavement of the Banks-Vernonia trail to unapproved road, from gently rolling hills to tough climbs.

This trail is a gem for those who don’t like monotony in their runs, as the segments are short and ,by the time you are tired of one surface, another presents itself.

Register early for a chance at this opportunity!!

1/2 MARATHON
This is a loop course, and the 1/2 marathon runs it clockwise first, and then counterclockwise.

You will follow the trail heading to the Clayhill Horse Staging Area, sideswiping the Mountain Dale Cabin Village. Head through the staging area of Clayhill Horse Area to Hares Canyon Trail. Then you will split off on the Unfit Settlement View Trail then intersect back with the Hares Canyon Trail.

You will follow this trail to the Banks-Vernonia Trail then to Boomscooter Trail and go around Boomscooter Pond and intersect back to the starting trail and head past the Mountain Dale Cabin Village and back to Hill Top Day Use Area for the finish.

There will be trail markings to follow throughout the course do to some intersections can be a little confusing. As with all of our events, the RED marking is for the 1/2-Marathon, the BLUE marking is for the 1/4-Marathon, and RED
