The Squamish 50 races are TOUGH, truly unforgettable trail running experiences. With our marquee 50 mile race boasting over 90% singletrack and more than 11,000 feet of climbing and descent, topped off by stunning sweeping vistas across glaciated snow capped peaks that jut straight out of the Pacific Ocean, these courses are sure to take your breath away.

We’ve constructed a variety of events by runners, for runners, that highlight the absolute best running terrain in Western Canada. Trail Runner Magazine listed Squamish as a Top Trail Town, and locals have long known what makes Squamish such a highly sought-after adventure destination. Our greatest challenge has not been piecing together a stellar 50 mile course, it has been trimming this race down to just 50 miles. Our options were endless and as such we’ve been able to create a truly unforgettable trail ultra experience at all our distances:

The Squamish 50 Races

50 miles
Saturday @ 5:30am

Between the relatively flat first six miles and final mile, you’ll find over 3350 m /11,000 ft of climbing jammed into the remaining 43 miles of terrain. Your largest individual climb is 760 m / 2500 ft. This is an exceptionally difficult course made tougher still by the technical nature of a majority of the terrain. Throw in the fact that the back half runs much more difficult than the front half and you have yourself a nice little day of suffering. Thankfully we’ve made every effort to distract you with incredible scenery at every possible turn.

50 km
Sunday @ 6:15 am

The Squamish 50 – 50 km is a very challenging course as evidenced by the 11.5-hour cut off time. There’s not a lot of flat in this course BUT we have at least put those flatter sections at the very beginning and the very end, so you’ll be properly warmed up before you get into the guts of the course. This is a point to point race with no loops.

50/50
Saturday + Sunday

Can you handle 130km of burly Squamish goodness in just over twenty-four hours?

The concept here is simple – race the 50 miler and 50 kilometre events on back-to-back days.

Cumulative times will prevail in the pursuit of the coveted custom-made 50/50 awards.

All who cross both finish lines on consecutive days will be presented with a limited edition SQ5050_logo_2014Squamish 50/50 trucker hat – for finishers only. These won’t just be stylish, they’ll be the hardest earned hats around.

For those of you tackling the 50/50 for multiple years, you’ll earn a specific colour to designate the number of times you’ve completed. We’re all about the badges of honour!

23 km
Sunday @ 8:00 am
This SHOULD NOT be your first trail race. It is a very difficult 23 km course.

Kids Run
Saturday @ 12 Noon

Distances:
–500 metre course for ages 5 and under
–1,000 metre course for ages 5 to 8
–1,500 metre course for ages 8+
