The Tuesday Night Trail to Grill series offers an opportunity to enjoy the long days of summer and get your trail fix on a weeknight. All runs end with grilled hot dogs (vegetarian too!) and watermelon or other cool treats. Distances range from 4 kilometers to 10 miles. Come make the most of summer evenings, and put these fun runs on your calendar!

Wilburton Hill Park is just blocks from downtown Bellevue, yet it is a quiet haven that is home to the Bellevue Botanical Gardens, a sweet picnic area, a newly-renovated children’s play area, sports fields, and plenty of beautifully-groomed trails over a gently-rolling, forested landscape. The 4-kilometer loop used by the Wilburton Hillbilly course provides a fast-paced tour of the variety of landscapes the park has to offer, from wide and fast gravel promenades with views of soccer games and the gardens to swooping and woodchip-covered trails in the shade of the forest.

Course Description
The 4k-loop course is composed of an out-and-back on a wide, gravel path to the west along the Bellevue Botanical Gardens, followed by a loop through the forested trails and around the baseball fields in the east part of the park. There is a variety of trail widths and surfaces on this course, making for a course that changes character throughout the loop. Apart from the moderate elevation gain, most of the route is fast and non-technical, with just a few windy trails to keep runners on their toes.

The 4k course completes the loop once, the 8k twice, and the 12k three times. 8k and 12k runners will pass next to the finish and have access to an aid station there between laps.

ELEVATION GAIN
4k: 250 feet (76m)
8k: 500 feet (152m)
12k: 750 feet (228m)

AID STATIONS
An aid station located next to the start/finish point will offer water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas. 8k runners will pass this aid station once, at the midway point of their run; 12k runners will pass it twice, after 4k and 8k.

Schedule
5:30pm – Day-of-event registration opens
6:30pm – Start
9:00pm – Course closes

Directions & Parking
There are frequent baseball games at Wilburton Hill Park in the spring, so expect the main parking lot to be in demand. Additional parking is available immediately to the west at the Bellevue School District administrative complex, as well as 0.2 miles away at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens.
