First chance to ride inside the new SR99 Tunnel and last chance to ride on the Alaskan Way Viaduct!
Bertha bore the way…Ride inside the new SR99 Tunnel before it opens to cars – and since the Alaskan Way Viaduct is still standing, bike these two routes together before the viaduct is demolished!
Registered riders will receive a free commemorative souvenir, and t-shirts will be available for purchase.
This bike ride is part of the big weekend celebration. There’s also a Tunnel to Viaduct fun run on Saturday, Feb. 2. For details about the run and other activities, visit 99 Step Forward.

Registration will close Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 11:59 p.m.
The ride will start and end on 6th Ave. N and Harrison St. two blocks east of the Space Needle.
If you ordered packet mailing it will be mailed out a 5 to 10 days prior to the event. Look out for an envelope that says “Rider Packet” from Cascade. All others will need to pick up their rider packet at the times listed in above under ‘packet pickup.’
Schedule for the Ride
7 to 9:30 a.m. Packet pickup and Customer Service tents open.
8 to 10 a.m. Ride starts – tunnel officially opens with access to SR99. Access closes at 10:15 a.m. – no exceptions.
10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Family friendly start time – for families who want to stay out of the clutter.
10:15 a.m. Tunnel entrance closed.
11:30 a.m. All riders need to be out of the tunnel.
11:30 a.m. Viaduct entrance closed.
12:00 p.m. Course closed all riders off viaduct.
12:30 p.m. Finish line closes
8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Finish Line Expo on 6th Ave. N
NOTE: These times are hard closures and cannot be changed, so please give yourself lots of extra time.
The Tunnel Ride is a two loop route including both south and north bound lanes of the new tunnel AND both the upper and lower decks of the Viaduct. Ride one or both of the loops for the final public event on the Viaduct before it is demolished. *Please note the route is subject to change if safety becomes a concern.

Tunnel is up and down at 4-6% grade
START LINE OPEN FROM 8 A.M. TO 10 A.M.
Family Friendly Start for kids and families will be at 10 a.m. You must enter the tunnel by 10:15 a.m. No one will be allowed in after this time.
8 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Save gas and add some miles. Bike to the start! Check out the Seattle Bike Map to plan your route.
There are lots of parking garages in the Seattle Center area, and parking is free on Sundays in most locations.
The event start line is very close to many bus lines.
