Winter Trail Series: Redmond Reindeer Romp 5mi | Half Marathon
December 5, 2020 @ 7:30 am - 1:00 pm PST
An event every year that begins at 7:30 am on day first of December, repeating until December 3, 2022
The Winter Trail Series celebrates Seattle and the Eastside’s local parks with trail runs that will keep your winter fitness warm. All events have a choice of at least two distances, with shorter course lengths ranging from 4-8 kilometers (2.5-5 miles), and longer course lengths ranging from 10-21 kilometers (6-13 miles). So rally your running pals and put these motivating events on your calendar!
Redmond Watershed Preserve is known for its especially well-groomed trails, gently rolling hills, and forests thick with fern. Novices appreciate that there is less to trip on and more room to pass than other more technical venues, while veterans enjoy besting their personal records on the smooth dirt carpet. So lace up, grab your beanie, and brighten up a gray winter day with a vibrant green forest.
Join us for a 5-mile or half marathon trail run at Redmond Reindeer Romp, the third event in the Winter Trail Series!
Both courses have low to moderate climb and mostly relatively wide, smooth trails, with few steep parts.
The aid station is located at the loop turn-around for half marathon runners, which is about halfway (3.5 miles) into the 6.55 mile loop. Running two loops, the half marathon runners will visit this station twice. There will not be an aid station on-course for 5-mile runners, but food and hydration will be available at the finish.
The aid station offers water, electrolyte drink, and some carbohydrate-rich or salty foods, such as cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, chips, bagel, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and/or bananas.
8:00am – Check-in opens
9:30am – 5 mile Start
9:35am – Half Marathon Start
1:00pm – Course closes
Directions & Parking
Unless you are part of a three-or-more person carpool, you must use this offsite parking and take a shuttle to the start. Carpools of three or more may park in the paved lot near the start while space is available.
Offsite Parking and Shuttle
Due to the number of runners participating and the small size of the lot in the park, parking for this run will be offsite, and there will be a shuttle bus to take you to the start and back to your car after you finish. The Bear Creek Park & Ride lot is about a four miles from the start. Please allow an additional 15 minutes to get from the remote parking to the start. Even with the offsite lot, there is limited parking, and we encourage carpooling. Carpools of three or more people are welcome to park in the paved lot at Redmond Watershed while there is room. There is also some street parking along NE Marketplace Drive, to the West of Redmond Ridge Dr. NE. It is a less than a mile jog from there to the start.
7:30am – first shuttle from Bear Creek Park & Ride (three shuttles will be making trips back and forth, one leaving approximately every 5-10 minutes)
9:00am – last shuttle from Bear Creek Park & Ride to the check-in and start
10:30am – first shuttle from Redmond Watershed parking lot to Bear Creek Park & Ride
1:00pm – last shuttle from Redmond Watershed parking lot to Bear Creek Park & Ride
Carpools of 3 or more will be allowed to park in the Redmond Watershed parking lot while spots are available. All carpools of 3 or more will be eligible for the carpool raffle!
