If You Stop Thinking Of Exercise As A Way To Lose Weight, You May Actually Enjoy It
To lose weight, restrict calories. To get the physiologic benefits of exercise, do at least 150 minutes per week, mix up your routine, and have fun. Over 40? Make sure to include strength and conditioning sessions.
Case in point:
During the dry season (in Seattle) I cycle 2-3 days a week, run to/from the Y 3-5 days a week where I do strength and conditioning classes with other living (not virtual) humans (the social component of fitness is important!)
