Francesca Carmichael, owner, brain, and sole “woman power” behind a Seattle-area Italy-focused business, has come up with an exciting last-minute itinerary for a trip to France and Italy planned around viewing stages 12 (Bourg-Saint-Maurice Les Arcs/Alpe d’Huez) and 13 (Bourg d’Oisans/Valence) of this year’s Tour de France. Those Tour stages are July 19-20, and Francesca’s trip will be before and after those dates. You have the flexibility to do additional travel with Francesca, or have her help you plan the remainder of your trip.
The trip will be “Francesca style:” No frills, no luxury hotels, no big budget, with travel by train, bus, foot, and bike. Plan on staying at local accommodations and eating good food. Francesca is also an avid ultra runner, so in order to get to the best viewing locations, plan on plenty of power hiking. Bike rentals can also be arranged.
Born and raised in Cremona, Italy, Francesca is fluent in French and Italian, and has traveled in the Grenoble area during previous Tours de France.
