Lord Hill 5k | 10 Mi | 20 Mi | 50k
February 22 @ 6:45 am - 5:00 pm PST
An event every year that begins at 6:45 am on day fourth of February, repeating until February 24, 2024
Lord Hill Park has been a favorite for many trail runners in the Pacific Northwest as an early season trail run. Started by Tim Lofton and currently in its 14th year, the run starts and finishes at the south parking lot. Course distances available are 5K, 10 Mile, 20 Mile 50K. The courses will be well marked with streamers and arrows at intersections.
The start of the race will be at the south parking lot of the park. Aid stations will have water, Coke, Nuun, Clif product, PBJ sandwiches, hot food, fruit, cookies, crackers and pretzels. At the finish there will be hot vegetable soup and chili, plus other goodies to enjoy after the race.
This is a cupless race. All runners should carry with them a refillable container that they can run with. There will be a limited number of cups for emergency situations.
As part of our new Woodland Speeders program, we offer free kid’s races at all of our events. Parents are welcome to run with their kids. You can register your child during the registration process for your own race or sign them up later. Distances vary and are approximate, but we aim for about 1K in distance. See schedule below for start time.
5k, 10 Mile, 20 Mile, 50k
The course also features rough, rocky sections, and a couple of slippery bridges.
The 5K course is one loop of the 5K course. The 10M, 20M and 50K all use the same loop. 10M is one loop, 20M is two loops and 50K is three loops.
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including a few equestrians, pedestrians and cyclists. Signs will be posted weeks prior to the event so we don’t anticipate much equestrian use during the races, and equestrians are only allowed on the wider trails, where passing should be easy. However, horses do have the right of way, and if you encounter a horse in your path, stop running, step off the path, and let the horse pass, unless the rider tells you that it is okay to walk past. Please be courteous. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.
The course also features rough, rocky sections, and a couple of slippery bridges. Please be careful when you proceed. Participants are responsible for their own safety. If you bring a cell phone, call 911 in case of an emergency; most areas of Lord Hill Park have reception. We will also have volunteers at mile 6 and we will sweep the course towards cutoff time. You must notify an event organizer or volunteer if you decide to quit since we need to ensure all participants have safely returned after the event.
