Soaring Eagle Trail Runs 5k | 10k | Half Marathon
May 27, 2023 @ 7:00 am - 2:00 pm PDT
An event every year that begins at 7:00 am on day fourth of May, repeating until May 25, 2024
Right in Sammamish, Soaring Eagle Regional Park is a very popular destination for runners and hikers alike with easy-to-access trailheads. It’s relatively flat compared to some of our other races but has some sections with large roots.
The distances offered are 5k, 10k, and Half-Marathon. For views of the trails, check out pictures from previous years. Fully stocked Aid Stations every 3-4 miles will give runners plenty of places to fuel up. We will have water, Nuun, Clif Shots/Bloks/Bars, PBJ sandwiches, fruit, cookies, pretzels, and more. And as always there will be an assortment of food and beverages after the race.
This is a cupless race. All runners should carry with them a refillable container that they can run with. There will be a limited number of cups for emergency situations.
The trails will be open to other users during the event, including equestrians (allowed on the trails but seldom encountered), pedestrians and cyclists. Horses do have the right of way, and if you encounter a horse in your path, stop running, step off the path, and let the horse past, unless the rider tells you that it is okay to walk past. Please be courteous. Where the trails are narrow, please let other participants pass you if they want to get by. It is a passing runner’s job to tell the person in front that they wish to pass.
As part of our new Woodland Speeders program, we offer free kid’s races at all of our events. Parents are welcome to run with their kids. You can register your child during the registration process for your own race or sign them up later. Distances vary and are approximate, but we aim for about 1K in distance. See schedule below for start time.
The course has some rough and rooty sections, and in the spring can accumulate large deep puddles. Please be careful. Participants are responsible for their own safety. In case of an emergency, call 911 if you have a cell phone; most areas of Soaring Eagle Park have reception. You must notify the event organizer or volunteer if you decide to quit, since we need to ensure all participants have safely returned after the event.
