Wy’east Wonder 50M | 50K
June 12 @ 6:00 am - 6:30 pm PDT
An event every year that begins at 6:00 am on day second of June, repeating until June 8, 2024
The original east-of-Wy’east 50-miler and 50K is possibly our most scenic race ever. You will want to return to these ridge line trails again and again.
The Wy’east Wonder is a point-to-point race run mostly on two ridges; Gunsight Ridge and Surveyor’s Ridge. You will have so many views of Wy’east (the Multnomah Tribe word for Mt. Hood) as you make your way from it’s southern side around to the east, that you may actually get tired of looking at it. We promise we’ll take your breath away, and it won’t be from only running. The 50M route has 7,082′ of elevation gain and 10,012 of loss. The 50K has 4,193′ of gain and 7,122′ of loss.
Parking & Shuttles
The race starts at Bennett Pass Sno Park and finishes at the Oak Ridge trailhead, right near Parkdale, Oregon. The Wy’east Wonder post-race party is just a short shuttle ride away from the finish line at the Red Barn Park in Parkdale. There is no racer or spectator parking at either the start or the finish so all racers, volunteers and spectators will park at the Red Barn Park in Parkdale. Runners will board shuttles to get to the starting line. Shuttles will bring racers back to the park when they finish. Spectators can ride the shuttle from Red Barn Park to the finish line and back to the park if they would like to see their runner cross the finish line.
The Red Barn Park is located in Parkdale at 4943 Baseline Dr, Mt Hood, OR 97041. Parkdale is a 22-minute drive south of Hood River, on Highway 35.
We HIGHLY ENCOURAGE CARPOOLING!
If you are interested in carpooling, you can post here to find or give a ride. This is a Google spreadsheet that is viewable to anyone with the link, so only post what you want public. Carpooling earns you a Carpool Coaster too!
When you finish, you will take a shuttle back to the Red Barn Park where you parked. There we’ll feed and rehydrate you with tasty food, 10 Barrel beer, and Avid hard cider. We’ll have live finish line results so you can see when the other runners finish. We’ll have an awards ceremony where the top three male and female finishers from each distance will receive great prizes from our sponsors. We will also hand out three-deep age-group awards and have raffle prizes.
