Saturday May 30
Pert’s Deli, Leschi
9:00 AM
This introductory ride is for cyclists interested in joining Cascade’s High Performance Cycling (HPC) Team.
After a discussion and Q & A about the team we’ll go for a ride. The route will depend on turnout, but plan on mostly flat terrain and about 22 – 30 miles at approximately 18 mph.
If there is interest some team members may be available to meet for a post-ride coffee.
There are currently about 6 women on the team.
Although joining a “fast” group can be a bit intimidating, I think we are succeeding in cultivating a supportive environment in which everyone can push themselves. As the adage goes, you only get better by playing with others who are better than you.
The team has a diverse mix of riders. Some are strong on the flats, some are strong climbers, and almost everyone has a big objective for the season: At one end of the spectrum, ride leader Jeff Sorrentino and his wife Tricia are lined up to compete in Ironman Cour de Alene, and we have a number of folks training for a one-day STP.
And the dazzling red team kit is pretty cool, too!
