August 23, 2020 @ 6:30 am - 5:00 pm PDT
An event every year that begins at 6:30 am on day fourth of August, repeating until August 24, 2025
The Chuckanut Classic is the Mount Baker Bicycle Club’s signature ride. Come join us and ride one of the most scenic rides in Washington. With many routes offered you can pick your distance ranging from 25, 38, 62, or the full century of 100 miles.
If you’d rather bring your family on a shorter guided ride, join the family-friendly 10-mile jaunt with treats, entertainment, and other on-route stops and surprises for kids.
No matter which route you choose, you’ll be treated to Whatcom County’s finest roads and sights. As you ride the south loop you’ll have views of the San Juan Islands while overlooking Bellingham, Samish, and Padilla Bays along with stunning views of Chuckanut and Blanchard mountains, also known as “where the Cascade Mountains meet the sea.”
The north loop offers spectacular views of Mount Baker as it stretches to meet the sky, as well as incredible views of the Canadian Cascades, Mount Shuksan, the Twin Sisters, Birch Bay, and Vancouver Island.
Although all cyclists should be prepared when they take to the roads, you can enjoy the added security of knowing that there is ride support if needed and rest stops with a wide variety of high-energy food and drink along all of the routes.
The 25 mile loop is perfect for those new to an organized event and ready to try a longer ride on their own. The 100 mile century is a great way to push yourself to an extra long distance while being supported along the way.
The 10 mile jaunt is a guided option for families and children, with ride leaders for extra security to help those unfamiliar with group riding.
Registration opens at 6:30 am.
Century riders (100 mile distance) may leave together at 7:30 am. The road doesn’t open until 7:30 (this means support vehicles and rest stops will not begin until 7:30 am) so please don’t start earlier. If you would rather not start with a large group, feel free to wait until the first wave leaves and get on the road at 7:45am.
Metric century riders (62 mile distance) may leave together at 8:30 am. If you would rather not start with a large group, feel free to wait until the first wave leaves and get on the road at 8:45am.
38 mile riders: may leave together at 9:30 am. If you would rather not start with a large group, feel free to wait until the first wave leaves and get on the road at 9:45am.
25 mile riders: may leave together at 10:00 am. If you would rather not start with a large group, feel free to wait until the first wave leaves and get on the road at 10:15am. 25-milers will head north to the Ferndale rest stop, then return.
Guided Family Ride leaves at 10:30 am. Everyone on this ride will leave together and ride together with ride leaders helping on the road. Please be at the start at 10:15 am with your bike tires pumped up and bike ready to ride so we can leave on time. With our several planned stops along the way, this ride will take a couple hours.
12:00 noon: the lunch grill opens in the Boundary Bay Brewery’s backyard outdoor garden. Burger or Brat plus a side (fries, chips, or salad) is included with your regular ride registration. Beverages available for purchase. Lunch service extends until 4:45 pm.
