The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour plays at the Mountaineers November 28 – 30. Regardless of which sport(s) get your adrenaline going, you will leave inspired.
Each year, The Banff Mountain Film Festival selects some of the best films and sends them on a tour of North America. Despite the name, the films may or may not have anything to do with mountaineering or climbing. Memorable films in the past included stories about skydiving into sinkholes in Mexico, paragliding across Nepal, a unicyclist pedaling along the top of Squamish Chief, and canoeing from Mongolia into Lake Baikal.
Last year, the highlight for us was “Asiemut,” a self-made documentary by Olivier Higgins and Mélanie Carrier about their 8000 kilometer bicycle adventure from Mongolia to Kolkata, at the mouth of the Ganges in India, and which passed through Xinjiang, the Taklamakan Desert, Tibet and Nepal.
Friday is already sold out. The same program of films will be shown each night.
