Saturday Feb 4: HIgh Performance Cycling 2012 Kick-off

Hard to believe, but the Cascade Bicycle Club‘s High Performance Cycling Team (aka “HPC”) is entering its 5th year; you may have noticed us in our trademark white (mostly) or red team kits. HPC was developed to match the interests and needs of cyclists who like to ride fast, hard, far, and climb hills, but without a racing focus. The HPC program is committed to helping strong cyclists challenge themselves to improve their skills and fitness. The team has a wide range of abilities, though for an optimal experience team members should be able to pedal at least 18 mph on flat terrain.

Presentation topics at the 2012 kick-off meeting will include:

* Team benefits from our relationships with Cascade Bicycle Club and Cycle U
* 2012 Team goals and initiatives
* Cycle U coaching clinics for 2012: Include group cycling and pace line skills, group ride safety, climbing, cornering and descending, etc.
* Team discount program including discounts on Specialized bikes and products, Felt, Garmin, Speedplay, etc.
* Fitness performance testing program
* 2012 Ride schedule
* Who’s interested in participating in a 4-person team for 2012 Race Across Oregon?

You can join at the meeting or via CycleU’s web site. Cost is $100 plus $65 for a team jersey, and Cascade Bicycle Club membership is required. Club fit jerseys are available at the Cascade Bicycle Club offices; Race fit jerseys, bib shorts and other team clothing are available for purchase as part of a team order that closes on February 20.
