The morning of day three, John Stamstad and I connected with Sam Thackston and Tomas Parra-Gomez on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail near Rattlesnake Lake.

The pair were new friends pedaling together to help ward off mental numbness that is often part of the ultra endurance experience.

Both riders were experienced mountain bikers, and this was their first bikepacking event.

Sam scratched at mile 310 due to knee issues.

Tomas scratched at mile 365 near Ellensburg.
