The Washington High School Cycling League is a fledgling organization that aims to provide a venue for teens to try bicycle racing. At a time when budget cuts continue to erode health and fitness education, I think we need more outlets for kids to experience how to have fun and stay healthy.
About:
The Washington High School Cycling League was founded in 2010 to promote personal development and teamwork through bicycle racing, and encourages the formation of teams at public and private high schools. With the cooperation of local race promoters and our sponsors, the League will organize a first class series of mountain bike races to commence in the spring of 2011, designed for high school aged student-athletes.
The League makes high school racing the easiest route for youth to get involved in the challenging and exciting world of competitive cycling. The Washington League is generously supported by founding national sponsor, Specialized Bicycle Components, as well as Easton Foundations, SRAM, Trek Bicycles, Clif Bar and Co., Primal Wear, GU Sports, Shimano, Mellow Johnny’s, Fox Racing Shox, CamelBak, Dirt Rag, Feedback Sports and Mountain Bike Action.
Act:
The Washington High School Cycling League needs input to help ensure a successful launch. If you are a high school student, are a parent of a high school student, a race promoter, or interested in getting involved, take the survey here.
