Women’s Intro to Racing 2013

The Seattle area has cultivated a very strong support system for women interested in racing bikes. Every Fall the women’s teams, coordinated by Martha Walsh and Gina Kavesh, host a series of rides that serve as an introduction to group riding skills, and as a way to meet women active in the local race scene.

Sunday’s ride was the last in the 2013 series. Riders meet in Leschi, and pedal around the south end of Lake Washington with the option to do some additional miles around Mercer Island:

If you weren’t able to attend the series but want to find out more about women’s racing, check out the WSBA Racing women’s web page.

Before we started to pedal, Gina Kavesh (Bikesale.com) gave a clinic on paceline skills.
The ride regrouped at Gene Coulon Park where Gina Kavesh discussed riding in the rain and shifting technique.

Stating the obvious: Group Health is an all-women’s team.
The ride finished with a lap around Mercer Island.
