CeeLite, a Blue Bell, PA-based start-up has devised a thin, bendable light source that can be integrated into walls or wrapped around poles. (And bike tubes???)
The light-emitting capacitors (LECs) are essentially 1-mm-thick sheets of plastic. Inside is a layer of phosphors that when hit with an alternating current, shine bright white.
Mike Binder, senior vice president of business development says: “I want to light surfaces that aren’t lit today. I want to light floors. I want to light floorboards…I have the ability to light objects with the objects themselves.”
This isn't a regional ride, but the cycling enthusiast seizes the opportunity to spin whenever it arises, even when the location happens to be the trailing edge of a frontal system strong enough to blow several states on a visit with the Wizard of Oz.
A recent business trip took me to Manhattan.
