Superbowl Sunday is usually one of the best skiing days of the season since most of the US population is watching TV.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain quality powder continues to dump, and backcountry skiing conditions in the Northwest have stabilized (in some locations). Activists have begun to get out and play in their favorite powder stashes.
Playtime this Sunday included turns with Pete Alderson, an active member of the Washington Alpine Club.
To get to the shot in the clip below, we hiked and traversed for about 40 minutes outside the Crystal Mountain Ski Area Boundary. Our crew made lengthy runs in untracked snow like this all afternoon. Not quite snorkel conditions, but probably as close as it gets in the Northwest.

Don’t try this at home: The skiers pictured have extensive backcountry experience and avalanche training.
