Pez Cycling News has a great interview this week (dated Wednesday, October 03, 2007) with cycling legend Bob Roll, aka “Bobke.”
Bob Roll was part of the legendary 7-11 team that broke into the European pro peloton in the ’80’s, and during the Lance Armstrong era has been a color commentator for US Tour de France coverage on the Discovery Channel.
Now crashing, on the other hand, gives you scar tissue, and scar tissue tells a story no idiotic tribal barbwire tattoos ever will. And as the stories of your scars are retold, you’ll get hungry for sour mash and pork rinds.
Mmmm. Pork rinds and whiskey. Breakfast for serious cyclists?
As for those of you Seattleites who pay to get professionally scarified, I don’t think this is quite what Bob has in mind. Bob got his scar tissue the old fashioned way, he earned it.
