After years of watching Chris Ragsdale successfully compete in an amazing list of ultra distance races, he has committed to the Race Across America (RAAM) 2013. Chris is considered one of America’s premier ultra-distance cyclists and is among next year’s favorites.
Although Chris plans to do a relatively low-budget version of RAAM, he estimates expenses will total $20-30,000. At the lower end of that range, funds will be used to cover fuel, food and lodging for his crew; funding at the upper end of the range will enable his team to rent vehicles one-way to the east coast. To put things in perspective, the budget for some solo racers can top $100,000.
In cooperation with the Cycle University/Apex Racing team, Chris’ first fundraising and awareness-building event happens this Saturday October 20 at 10:00AM. The event will start with a 30-40 minute presentation by Chris followed by a leisurely ride with Chris and his team.
This is a great chance to meet and support an amazing local athlete and a true ambassador of cycling.
