Sunday was the finale of the 2015 MFG Cyclocross series–the Woodland Park GP. The weather was clear and cool which was delightful for the spectators, but relatively free of mud which must have been a huge disappointment to at least some of the participants.
The vibe at cyclocross races is significantly friendlier than road cycling events. It’s easy to access the entire course and view the race from different vantage points. Teams and families set up in central locations that facilitate socializing. And while cyclocross IS competition, the festive atmosphere and convoluted course make it hard to know who finished first or last. Costumes carry as much credibility as race results.
Woodland Park is a great venue. My wife and I cycled over, and on the way home we made a lunch stop at Eltana on Stone Way and a beverage stop at MIIR in the Brooks building.
