Polka Dot Jersey Celebrates 5 Years

Friday evening July 8, the Polka Dot Jersey bike shop in Leschi celebrated its five-year anniversary. Polka Dot is located just a few doors north of a Starbucks that is a popular starting point for many weekend group rides.

Polka Dot provided refreshments and snacks for the celebration.

Previous bike shops in Leschi included Il Vecchio which closed in 2009 and Triumph Multi-Sport which closed in 2010.

Bike retail (all retail?) is a brutal business and I asked president Matt Telmosse about the factors that have made five years possible. He said: “moronic persistence and a focus on service.” Despite their relatively out-of-the way-location (unless you are meeting a group ride) I know several folks who are devotees. Whatever they are doing, it’s working.
