Ragsdale & Walsh @ WA Pass

An early-season out and back on Hwy 20 from Colonial Creek Campground to Mazama has been on my to-do list for quite some time, and this Saturday did not disappoint. Temperatures were mild–mid-40s to start and mid-70s in Mazama–and the late season snowpack made the scenery even more spectacular than usual. This is a stout ride any time of the year, but even more so with early-season legs and a solid group of riders from High Performance Cycling. We covered 100 miles and over 9,000′ of climbing.

As an added bonus, we were able to connect with Chris Ragsdale and Mick Walsh who were on day 3 of a 3-day endurance training block of over 200 miles per day. We met them on our return trip over Washington Pass, and after their second climb up that day. To end the ride, Chris and Mick hauled some of us at a very high rate of speed from Rainy Pass to the Diablo Overlook east of where we had parked our cars.

At Washington Pass, we took a few minutes to do a quick interview:

In case you are not familiar with this classic Washington ride, here are the Garmin details:
