Seward Park Opening Day

Seattle’s weekly Seward Park Thursday night race series started this week. Although unsanctioned by USAC and WSBA, this race along with the weekly Pacific Raceways Tuesday night race are at least as important as the “real” races for many local speedsters.

Conditions were a bit cool and moist for opening day, but as the weather gets better the Seward race is quite the social scene complete with picnic blankets and kids cheering their dads (and sometimes moms) as the racers streak by.

Juniors battle it out during the 5PM race.

First in, first out: Jordan Rasmussen charges out of the hairpin during the 6PM race.
Rob McDaniel performs a textbook demonstration of how to breathe while racing during the 6PM race.
