Volunteer Park 2011

A few images of one of Seattle’s classic races–the Volunteer Park Criterium–which was held on Saturday.

The course is a loop around Volunteer Park with a downhill then an uphill on the backstretch and the finish area in front of the Asian Art Museum. Races were held all day long with a clinic for new women racers at 7AM, and the final race consisting of the fastest men going off around 4PM.

At warp speed on the backstretch, a Keller Rohrback racer looks back to see who else is with him in the Men's Masters 30+ category 1-3 race.
Martin Criminale (FareStart powered by Cobalt Mortgage) nears the top of the hill on the backstretch.
Dr. Scott Ramsey (SCCA/Starbucks) shows us his breathing technique coming off the hill and into the home stretch.

Juniors get pre-race instructions at the start line.
Just coming out of the hill and into the home stretch: Quite a bit of size and development difference amongst the juniors.
