Seattle resident John Stamstad is a legendary ultra endurance athlete who arguably established the bikepacking niche.
A significant hallmark of John’s ultra career has been to be the first: He pioneered routes, gear, and techniques that laid the foundation for the recent surge in bikepacking activity.
In this interview clip, John talks about how he finds balance through a combination of cycling and trail running.
Among his trail running accomplishments: Running the 100-mile White Rim Trail in Canyonlands while pushing a modified baby stroller full of water.
“It’s never been about the mode of transportation for me…it’s about the adventure and exploring.”
